The Invicta Pro Diver 8926OB is undoubtably a homage to the Rolex Submariner Date, viewed by many as being more of a flagrant copy, which in its out of the box form is undeniable.

The 8926OB suffers from glaring branding complications. It has a rather garish INVICTA engraving on the left hand side, together with the large winged insignia on the face below which INVICTA is again marked, just so we are left in little doubt who this watch is made by. The seconds hand also displays the winged insignia on the tail end and it has a rather odd cross logo on the crown leaving us with a fussy and overly complicated affair overall. Then there is exhibition back with the lime green weight, I thought this was pretty cool at first but soon lost my appetite for it as it adds a fair amount of width to the watch which hampers wearing it comfortably on a nato strap, and that green, well, it's an interesting choice.

With all that being said, it is a very robust and incredibly good value watch for the paltry sum it will set you back. It boosts a full stainless steel construction and at 40mm it doesn't feel too big. Amazingly for the price it comes with the very highly regarded Japanese Seiko NH35 automatic movement which is renowned for its accuracy and long wearing reliability. This movement has a date complication and 'hacking' which means the movement can be hand wound if needed.

All in all it is a most excellent base watch to modify to become a rather wonderful, accurate, strong and great looking James Bond 6538 homage, and here is how I do it.
